VIU – Venice International University

Venice International University (VIU) is an international center of higher education and research which was founded in 1995. On its campus on the Island of San Servolo in Venice, Italy, a community of international professors, researchers.

The shared aims of the members focus VIU’s activities on the themes of competitiveness, the environment and subsidiarity through innovative forms of education and applied research. These topics are developed in all of the academic programs.

Venice International University (VIU) is an association made up of ten Universities:

  1. Boston College (USA)
  2. Duke University (USA)
  3. Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Spain)
  4. Ludwig Maximilians Universität (Germany)
  5. Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia
  6. Università Iuav di Venezia
  7. Tel Aviv University (Israel)
  8. Tilburg University (Holland)
  9. Tsinghua University (Cina)
  10. Waseda University (Japan)

with the Foundation of Venice, the Province of Venice, the Italian Ministry for the Environment, Land and Sea (IMELS) and the Italian National Research Council.
The aim of this International center is to manage higher education and research centers on the island of San Servolo in Venice.
