Wood is alive and is a keeper of life. The movement of its fibres, its breath, is eternal and imperceptible. Time falls onto its surface like impalpable dust and penetrates into it, melting into the substance. The material is steeped in history. Haute Material creations are unique pieces, made out of precious old wood, worked with respect, wisdom and craftsmen methods. The material is first selected and, respecting the history it contains, ‘reinvented’ through an original contamination with contemporary materials (steel and glass). The end result is always an object of indisputable personality, which never goes unnoticed and which gives a unique and sophisticated touch to any interior where it’s placed. The successful mix of antique and modern, past and future, severity and disorderliness, makes each piece of the collections an item of passionate modernity.
All the work is carried out by master cabinet-makers of the Valtellina with an almost obsessive attention to every detail who are, at the same time, aware of and sensitive to innovation and contemporary design. The hands working the wood, competently and lovingly selected by Mr Pruneri, are guided by respect for nature and the material and history it encloses, respect and love from afar because they are the clearest evidence of genius loci. “I’ve always seen the pictures and shapes that would become Haute Material pieces in my mind. At the beginning, they started like that, almost by accident, from moments of observation, thoughts, moments of reflection in the enchanted places of these valleys or simply at the table of a bar where I doodled on a piece of paper - irregularly, almost disruptive and unstoppable. Now, every single piece has been considered by many, in a team, but one thing is the same, and that’s the spontaneity of the ideas which take shape first in the mind and then in the heart and only later on the drawing table.” (Giuseppe Pruneri).
