Okinawa

Twenty five years ago, Okinawa was founded and started to evolve into an innovative enterprise whose target is the usage of recyclable materials. In the house basement of Mr. Michele Ruffin, located in Montagnana (a small town near Padua), the owner and founder of the enterprise, Mr Michele Ruffin has started to pave the way for turning an artisan enterprise into an international company. At first the enterprise dealt with belts, investigating new materials and production methods, in order to search for vintage items able to tempt teenagers. At the end 80’s the market crisis lead the enterprise to vary the products, focusing on the labelling market with the production of patches, labels, hand tags and back cards, turning into these new products the experience gained on the belts. Over the years, Okinawa company has increased its production, offering bags, shoppers and gadgets.

Today Okinawa has increased its range of products with Jacroki™. It is a group of ecological materials- such as cellulose and derivates- obtained from production waste, and which allows to turn in this way a potential rubbish into a mean to safeguard environment. Okinawa had always been very keen on safeguarding the environment. Ten years ago it started offering some fashion accessories in maize fiber and hemp, shaped on some brand fashion leaders’ whims. Today, after two years devoted to research and product’s finalisation, Okinawa is ready to launch a revolutionary material, which will play a major role in the following markets: interior design, clothing, shoes, leather trade, stationery, household articles and promotional gadgets.

Jacroki™
It is a patented material, an exclusive alternative adapted for the most disparate areas, showing its ecological composition, made prevalently of natural and recycled paper fibres. The main component is cellulose (80%)-plants constitutional element-mixed with paper recycled waste and latex. Afterwards it is arranged for various usages. Dimensional stability, mechanical resistance to abrasion, flexibility and flaking are all qualities this new material can offer. Because of the various applications, we refer to Jacroki as an eco family material class, and we produce numerous sizes, colours and processings to meet the most demanding customers. Among the existing processings, we differ from racy, soft and shine versions to make any application unique. These materials can be washed, ironed, rubbed, printed, embroidered (with some precautions) and sewn. Many applications, have already been used successfully with many brands (labels, tags, belts, shoppers, bags, shoes, packaging, gadgets and in interior design/ clothing). Our customers can choose among a vast array of sizes and colours, opting also or different kind of dyestuff, sometimes even exclusive ones just for them. Thanks to its partners, Okinawa created a logistic and productive headquarter able to serve all the most requested sectors, assuring high quality and service.

In these exhibition spaces Jacroki is used like screen for the projection of the videoclip realized during the composition in Morimondo, as print support for all the communication, and like covering for the pillows. ELOGICO wants to thanks Okinawa for the ecological contribution given to the realization of this exhibition plan.
